Known colloquially as ‘The Dock’, this project was an incredible feat of engineering.

To tell the story of this unique building, an innovative approach to film production was required.

Timelaspe photography was set up in several strategic locations to capture the progress of the build from different perspectives. The locations were reviewed and updated on a regular basis to ensure the visual documentation was both true and effective.

Project Film

‘The Dock’ is the most challenging new build project Structure Tone UK has ever undertaken. This critical engineering project comprised the construction of a new five storey 62,000 sqft External Utilities Building, known colloquially as ‘The Dock’ to expand and enhance the engineering resilience to the client’s existing data centre.

This 5 minute film captures the construction of ‘The Dock’ over a 2 year period, helping to highlight and communicate the challenges and achievements of the project team.

Photography

James Reid is the leading photographer when it comes to capturing and documenting long-term construction projects. Reid has an incredible skill defining the story and the evolution of significant buildings and today’s iconic construction projects, via the images he captures through the lens.

Motion Graphics

Motion graphics and onscreen text were incorporated into the final edit to help drive the narrative. Using the original architectural plans, often aligning with the actual imagery were a key part of the creative treatment.

Communicating

The film has been used extensively by the client to promote the unique and complex nature of the construction process, and has been a key communications feature at various industry events, both in person and online.
