About Mally Graveson. Communicating, experience, interests and saving the life of a dolphin.
Communicating
I help communicate messages and stories for individuals, community groups, global brands and international organisations. It’s my job to listen and understand, to think about your audiences and what information they need. Then deliver it.
I also help sell the vision of a corporate film, or the purpose of a communications strategy, to board members, company owners, stakeholder groups, and importantly the people involved in telling the story or delivering key messages.
I write scripts and develop creative treatments and proposals. I bring production talent together, produce and direct film shoots, collaborating on parts of a project, or managing large scale productions.
I’m happy being involved in any part of the communications journey. From sales and generating ideas to creating and making content.

Career
I currently work as an independent Communication Consultant and Video Producer.
I’m also a Tour Guide, providing storytelling experiences to guests and clients from all over the world, whether that’s guided walking tours of Scottish cities or planned day trips and vacations throughout Scotland.
Previously, I’ve helped build and grow an international video production company; worked in the travel industry; sold communication systems, delivered vital mail as a cycle courier, and in the distant past, a divemaster.

Experience
I’ve been lucky enough to produce content at a local, national and global level. Notable highlights include producing content that raises vital awareness of homelessness and mental health; creating content for United Nations organisations; filming water projects in the highlands of Malawi; filming Himba tribes in Namibia for a documentary; producing corporate content for clients in Hong Kong; producing social media travel films for hotel brands and helping develop global campaigns for national tourist boards.
Achievements
Several projects I’ve been involved in have won awards and commendations. Company recognition includes ‘International Business of the Year’ awards. On a personal level I was awarded a ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’ at the Edinburgh Business Awards.

Interests
I love the outdoors and the natural world, spending time with with my family, together at home or off on our adventures! I love walking my dogs in ancient woods, trekking over beautiful hills or wandering along wild deserted beaches.
I believe in the power of learning from failure, second chances, the healing act of listening and talking, the importance of well-being; and knowing that your freedom is on the other side of your fears.
Saving a dolphin
One of my greatest achievements is saving the life of a dolphin. On a wild beach on the Island of Barra in the Outer Hebrides, my wife and I discovered a stranded dolphin. We pushed and pulled this beautiful creature for all our might, with loud encouragement from our bewildered dogs.
As we rolled the dolphin towards the distant sealine, the most remarkable thing happened, the dolphin curled her fins and flippers close to her body to make it easier for us to roll her. Drenched and exhausted, we finally got the dolphin into the Atlantic Sea, and off she swam into the distance.
